Day Trips
Smack dab in the
heartland of Texas, Fredericksburg is ideally situated for
taking day trips. The major highways either intersect in
Fredericksburg or are easily accessed, meaning most of your
day will be spent at your destination, not driving to it.
Cascade Caverns:
Located in Boerne, Texas, the
Cascade Caverns are just a short drive away from
Fredericksburg on the Interstate 10. Exit #543 will bring
you to the caves enclose a one-hundred foot waterfall. In
addition to the waterfall, you’ll see the bones and fossils
of early cave animals, and of course, some amazing rock
formations.
Cave Without A Name:
It’s worth seeing this one in addition to the Cascade
Caverns, especially since they’re only about 10 miles apart.
Though it doesn’t have a name, the Cave Without A Name does
have actively forming stalactites and stalagmites.
The cave's web site allows you to make reservations in
advance.
Johnson Park:
The area where 36th president Lyndon B. Johnson grew up has
been turned into the
Lyndon B.
Johnson National Historical Park, and it’s just 20 miles
east of Fredericksburg. Take one of the park service tours
to learn about the area itself but also about President
Johnson’s life and legacy.

certain something? Now you'll have a handy guide to all of
the antique shops just waiting for you to explore - with the

everything that makes Fredericksburg and Gillespie County so
